Holiday (U) ★ Romany Revisited ★
Wed 11 September @ 11:00 am
Holiday (U) – 1938, USA, 93 mins
Director: George Cukor
A delightful comedy with all the sophistication that Cukor could muster, the famous Barry play is enhanced by the fine talents of Hepburn and Grant. She’s a rich socialite who wants to experience the newness of life high and low, he is the poor boy from the wrong side of the tracks.
Holiday is one of the great screwball comedies, a quick-fire, fast-talking delight that reunites Hepburn and Grant to fine comic effect as an independently-minded everyman who falls for a woman from a wealthy, old-money family with particular views on social hierarchy. Amid the hullaballoo, Cukor’s film questions social responsibility and position.
Doors open 10am for tea, coffee and cake. Film at 11am.
All tickets £5 on the door.
