SUMMARY:DEREK VS DEREK (15) 1h 28m
DESCRIPTION:Dir: James Dawson \nGenre: Documentary \nTwo neighbouring Devon farmers\, both called Derek\, go to war over the future of their land in this funny and timely documentary. \nOne is an advocate for intensive farming; the other is giving his entire farm over to nature\, rewilding it into an oasis for wildlife. Tempers fray\, wild animals escape\, and the land between them is transformed\, all while the two Dereks butt heads over what the English countryside should look like and who gets to decide. The tension between rewilding and traditional agriculture has never felt more urgent\, and the film finds its way into that conversation through a neighbourly dispute that just happens to share a name on both sides of the fence. \nBar opens from 7pm serving our fabulous cocktails\, fine wines and craft beers\, as well as savoury and sweet snacks. \nFilm starts promptly at 8pm with last orders 10 minutes before the film \nWATCH THE TRAILER HERE

SUMMARY:THEATRE DOUBLE BILL: WITHOUT U & THE FIVE FLAVOURS OF MASCULINITY
DESCRIPTION:A double-bill of original\, one-act plays\, locally created and fresh from packed houses and fabulous reviews at the Totnes Fringe Festival.\nThis is a jostling juxtaposition of the genders\, each play exploring language\, friendship\, intimacy\, relationships and identity through the lens of their sex.\n\nWithout U (16+) 35m\nSomething is happening to our language. The phone has been taken over by texts and tickboxes. Emojis\, memes and gifs replace words\, replace feelings.\nThe spoken word is in danger. It is regularly recorded. Your words can be used against you. People are increasingly secretive. Social media is antisocial.\nIn a new development\, talking has been privatised. Restrictions are in place to limit conversation. Individuals can now only use one vowel.\nDespite these difficulties\, four women are determined to speak to you. To tell their stories.\n\nThe Five Flavours of Masculinity (12+) 50m\n\nBefore all the protecting\, providing\, hunting and gathering\, what are men even for? What is our prime function and what is our biology screaming at us to do? Here at Silverback we want to take a good long look at ourselves and our essential “masculinity”\, in all its many shades and hues. Through conversation\, imagination\, poetry and song\, join us in “the pub” for our light-hearted exploration of Bloke-dom! \nThis show is a conversation about what it means to be a man and an exploration of modern day masculinity. We  explore issues around our virility\, fertility\, masculinity and vasectomy. We are two theatrically inclined blokes with complicated leanings\, learning to lean on each other from time to time; dads\, brothers\, uncles\, mates. Some bloke’s sons. We are actors\, pretenders\, fakers and shakers. We are engineer! Yet we encompass much – we are complicated (despite the rumours). We are providers\, suppliers\, users and abusers (to some degree). We are magnificent DIY disasters.\nSo we’re coming out of the shed (metaphorically and heterosexually). And we believe that there is room to explore what it is to be male\, about how we choose to present and about our ever-changing roles and responsibilities. About how we see ourselves and the many ways in which we are seen. \nCafe opens from 10am  serving delicious home made cakes\, Freshly baked cookies\, Salcombe Dairy ice cream\, Crankhouse Coffee and Specialty Teas. \nBar opens from 12pm serving cocktails\, fine wines\, craft beers and bar snacks. Last orders 10 minutes before the film starts. \nPerformance starts promptly at 1:30pm.
