JAZZ BREW SUNDAY: SARAH HARRIS QUARTET

Join us for a relaxed Sunday afternoon of live jazz as the Sarah Harris Quartet take to the stage for this week’s Jazz Brew.
South Devon-based vocalist Sarah Harris brings a soulful, expressive approach to jazz, drawing inspiration from artists including Jeff Buckley, Etta James, Chet Baker, Carmen McRae and Aretha Franklin. Sarah spent 14 years performing professionally in Brighton, becoming a regular on the city’s jazz scene and working across private events and recording sessions. She has also performed with nationally recognised groups including Urban Voices Collective and The Dap Kings, the backing band for Amy Winehouse and Sharon Jones.
On piano is Will Butterworth, a hugely experienced Devon musician whose career has taken him from the Edinburgh jazz scene to collaborations with some of the UK’s leading jazz musicians, including Martin Speake, Bill Bruford, Dylan Howe, Asaf Sirkis and Jeff Williams. His work has featured regularly on Jazz FM, BBC Radio 3 and Classic FM, alongside five albums released as a leader.
Completing the quartet is Ronnie Jones on drums. A familiar face on the Devon jazz scene since moving here from London in 2005, Ronnie brings a background in orchestral, Latin and funk percussion to his playing, with a reputation for an inventive and highly individual style.
Expect an afternoon of superb musicianship, rich interplay and spontaneous improvisation, as these talented players come together to create something special.
