Set on Vancouver Island in the late 1990s, Blue Heron follows eight-year-old Sasha as her Hungarian immigrant family begins a new life in an unfamiliar home. What initially seems like a hopeful fresh start gradually gives way to growing unease as her eldest brother’s increasingly volatile behaviour disrupts the family’s fragile sense of stability.

Beautifully photographed and confidently crafted, filmmaker Sophy Romvari draws on her own childhood experiences to create an intimate and deeply affecting portrait of family, memory, and loss. With remarkable sensitivity, Blue Heron explores the emotional landscape of childhood, the complexities of familial relationships, and the often elusive nature of understanding those we love most.

Cafe opens from 10am  serving delicious home made cakes, Freshly baked cookies, Salcombe Dairy ice cream, Crankhouse Coffee and Specialty Teas.

Bar opens from 12pm serving cocktails, fine wines, craft beers and bar snacks. Last orders 10 minutes before the film starts.
